The London Road Veterinary Centre in Kings Lynn and the Hollies Veterinary Clinic in Downham Market are practices caring for companion animals with an emphasis on friendly personal care, diagnosis and treatment.
The two centres work together in partnership to offer the best service, covering the widest possible area. The practice is made up of a team of veterinary surgeons, qualified veterinary nurses, kennel assistants and reception staff. Together we strive to care for our clients and their animals alike.
The practice has achieved the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Tier 2accolade, an enormous honour and a reflection of the quality and the dedication of our staff, and in recognition of the level of investment made in our facilities and equipment. We are also Investors in People, indicating a commitment to support our staff and develop a comprehensive training and management program.
What should i do if i have an enquiry?
Our reception staff at both practices will help you with any questions you may have about your pet’s health. They can recommend appropriate products to help with a problem, or will arrange for you to see a veterinary surgeon at your convenience.
What do i do when i want to see the vet?
Consultations are by appointment to allow us to schedule adequate time for you and your pet to spend with the vet.Simply telephone whichever surgery you wish to visit and we can arrange an appointment to suit you, giving priority to the most urgent cases.
We offer a range of sessions to allow maximum flexibility in scheduling your appointment. Whether it is to avoid morning rush hour or to coordinate with the school run, we do our best to accommodate your needs. Sick animals will of course be seen on the same day often within the hour if the situation dictates it.
All our vets work closely together, sharing knowledge, experience and casework to ensure the best care for every patient. We also work closely with specialists who we can call upon when necessary, some of these specialists visit the practice regularly; others are within easy reach.
Vaccinations – because we advise an annual health check for your pet, every booster vaccination includes a full examination and discussion with the vet about any issues that might worry you about your pet’s health. The vaccines are tailored to the needs of your pet and to the risks they may face.
What if my pet needs an operation?
Operations – these are performed in one of our three surgical suites at the London Road Veterinary Centre under sterile conditions. We use the most modern anaesthetic equipment and monitoring devices, and each procedure is allocated a surgical nurse to monitor the patient’s progress through the anaesthetic and during recovery.
Admissions are always a stressful time for owners and their pets. We allocate a nurse who will care for your pet. Our dedicated medical nurse will be happy to discuss your pet’s likes and dislikes and any other concerns you might have during their stay. Every effort is made to keep you up to date with your pet’s progress but feel free to ask questions as they arise.
The main surgery at London Road in King’s Lynn has hospitalisation facilities for 20 in-patients, an isolation ward for animals with a contagious condition, a recovery ward for post-anaesthetic patients and a quiet ward for those more nervous pets. It is also equipped with a vivarium for our more unusual exotic friends.
Ambulance service – if transport is a problem we can offer a professional ambulance collection and delivery service. This also operates daily between the two surgeries, so all clients can benefit from the best facilities that we offer.
What if my pet needs extra care?
Home visits– we are happy to offer a home visit service during business hours, for those times when it is difficult or stressful to travel a sick animal, or even just for routine vaccinations.
Home visits can be particularly appropriate when its time to say goodbye to an old or sick pet, and these can be arranged in the working week. However, it is at times more efficient to attend the surgery where we have all the necessary drugs and equipment to treat your pet quickly and effectively, especially in emergency hours.
What do i do in an emergency?
Emergency – 24 hour emergency service is available; this can take the form of advice from the duty veterinary surgeon or if necessary an appointment can be made with a veterinary surgeon.
Again in these instances travel to the surgery tends to be the best possible course of action and most expedient way to get rapid, life saving treatment for your beloved pet.
If you need help out of normal hours simply telephone the surgery on 01553 773168 and then follow the instructions and your call will be returned by the duty vet who is manning the emergency service that we help provide.
How else do you do to help me and my pets?
Nurse clinics are available including new puppy and kitten clinics, weight clinics, clinics for elderly pets, flea and worming clinics, and dental clinics.
These form part of our fit for life campaign.
We obviously treat your sick pet but also look after them through all the stages of their life to ensure continued good health.
We also offer behavioural clinics where problems with your pet can be solved by our fully qualified behavioural advisor, but prevention is always preferable at our weekly puppy and junior classes.
